1. Students frequently use the first coordinate to give a vertical movement instead of horizontal. 2. This lesson is in two parts. Steps 1-9 address only Quadrant I. Steps 10-16 address all four quadrants. Variations 5th grade Repeat Steps 1-9 using additional points in Quadrant I for students to practice locating the points on the coordinate grid.
It only takes a minute to sign up. Consider a straight line with negative gradient passing through the positive quadrant (where all co-ordinates are positive, or the first quadrant) of the co-ordinate plane and intercepting the $x$ and $y$ axes to form a triangle with them.
